Why support the Excellence Fund?
The Excellence Fund was established 15 years ago. At that time, it was apparent that State funding for our students met only the most basic needs, and to ensure that the tradition of excellence continued at Mills High School it was necessary to provide supplementary funding to pay for many of the things that make learning interesting and engaging. These so-called “extras” can often make the difference for students.

Things have changed in 15 years. Even some of the most basic items are no longer provided for within the school budget. The Excellence Fund has become a necessity for parents who wish to ensure an excellent education for their children.  Be assured that each funding request is carefully reviewed by the Excellence Fund committee, our principal, and department heads to determine how to best spend the available funding. Please make a donation to the Excellence Fund – it will be money well spent!

Excellence Fund Goals:
Last year the Excellence Fund was able to fund some of the following, but not school-wide.  Funding is still needed for:

• Teacher and administrator requests for supplies, software and supplemental materials for all departments
• School-wide technology needs, including networking all school computers, digital projectors for classrooms, and computer workstations in science labs
• Improvement plan designed to raise individual student scores in all Advanced Placement classes

What is your child’s education worth? If every family at our school donated $20, approximately the price of a pizza, we would exceed our funding goals for the year. A little bit goes a long way when you consider that every penny donated to the Excellence Fund goes directly to the school!
