Mills High School Latina Mentor Program was established in 1992 and designed for Hispanic female students. Each girl has a mentor that guides them throughout their high school career. Mills High School is the only high school with this program in San Mateo Unified High School District and has earned recognition throughout San Mateo County. We provide enriching activities throughout the year including field trips, guest speakers and crafts. The girls in our program are given the opportunity to step up and take leadership roles within our program. A selected few receive scholarships upon their graduation. We are also known for our dance program which includes Ballet Folklorico, Salsa and Aztec which is done during our Spring semester. Our dance girls perform at the Mills High International Assembly and Talent Show. They also perform for our community and local retirement homes. We fundraise throughout the school year by doing carwashes, food faire (Sponsored by El Super Burrito) and candy sales (Sponsored by See’s Candy). The Latina Mentor Program shares pride in our Latin heritage with each other. Whether your family heritage is Mexican, Central American, South American or someone that enjoys Latin culture, come and join our program in the Fall semester and celebrate with us. |
