Mills Annual Fund

Your Share Counts Plan

Dear Mills Families and Friends,

The 2011-2012 school year marks the third year of the Mills Annual Fund. Through the significant support of parents and our school community, Mills raised over $150,000 over the past two years. However, with the uncertainty of California’s education budget and the deep cuts in funding for public schools, we hope this year’s Annual Fund will surpass the combined total from the past two years. Our goal is to reach $150,000 with 100% participation of Mills families.

The purpose of the Mills Annual is to raise funds to support the educational needs of our students. Unlike previous years, Mills will not request lab fees for any class but will rather support these classes through donations to the Annual Fund. Priorities for the 2011-2012 Annual Fund include:

  • School Loop yearly renewal fee
  • Purchase new science equipment and materials necessary for laboratory sciences
  • Purchase materials for Art, Ceramics, Nutrition and Woodworking
  • Classroom instructional technology
  • Fund teacher requests for classroom supplies and support for academic programs
  • School structured Peer Tutoring Program
  • Support communication via newsletters and the Mills website (www.mhs.schoolloop.com)

Our goal is to incorporate school fundraising efforts in one central fundraising initiative. However, Booster clubs including Athletics, Music, and Drama will continue to organize fundraising efforts to support these specific areas of interest.

Allocation of funds and oversight of the Mills Annual Fund will be one of the main functions of the Mills Site Council consisting of teachers, parents, students, and school administration. In addition, all approved expenditures will be reviewed at our regular PTO meetings.

With your help, we can continue to strengthen our academic program and support for all students. Mills High School is one of the top public high schools in the United States and is a California Distinguished School. Our graduates are consistently admitted to some of the most competitive colleges and universities in the country. Please help us reach our goal of $150,000 by making a tax deductible contribution to the Mills Annual Fund. All contributions are welcome and will help us achieve our goals.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
